"It can be frustrating for a first time inboard boat owner to learn how to back into a space," Jones said.
Dockstar uses extra rudders placed in the wake coming off the reversed propeller to provide more control of the boat. It is usually difficult to back an inboard boat into a dock space because with the propeller in reverse, the rudder is no longer in front of the boat's wake and the boat tends to track in one direction because of propeller rotation, Jones said. "It takes the fear out of having to dock an inboard boat." "It is a big game-changer for us," he said. Ryan Jones, sales manager at American Boat Center, 10250 Cogdill Road, said the dealership, which carries MasterCraft and Sea Ray brands, just got a boat with the new docking system in, and expects it will sell well.
